Neighbors prevent eviction of family

LAS TUNAS, Cuba (Luis González Ramírez, Lux InfoPress) – More than 80 neighbors came to the aid of Ana Escalona and her family when police and housing authorities tried to evict them.

The neighbors acted upon hearing the breaking of the back door after Mrs. Escalona, 46, refused to open it. The police were in the kitchen when the neighbors challenged them.

No reason was given for the eviction attempt, but Mrs. Escalona’s husband is in jail.
