MATANZAS, September 25 (Caridad Díaz Beltrán, Lux InfoPress) -
The municipal director of the agricultural market in Colón, in Matanzas
province, fired the manager of the bus-station cafeteria there 24 hours after he
was returned to Cuba.
The fired employee, Javier Fariñas, tried to leave Cuba by sea and
was returned in accordance to the migratory accords signed between the United
States and Cuba.
The director told Fariñas he "was fired for trying to leave the
country illegally" and instructed him to stop by personnel and pick up his
papers.
Fariñas, along with 12 others, was intercepted in the Straits of
Florida by the U. S. Coast Guard and returned to the island.
