Sacramento, California, Sept. 26 -- The Havana End Leukemia Project (HELP),
in conjunction with the American River Cigar and Golf Society, will host a
benefit charity auction and cigar fest tonight at Mace's - Pavilions, Fair Oaks,
in Sacramento, California.
The event will be held 6-10 p.m. local time.
``Please join us for cigars, fine spirits and appetizers as we rally to
benefit Cuban children suffering from Leukemia,'' said Bob Eiselman, chairman of
HELP.
Eiselman said there would be a silent auction of items donated by various
sources, the proceeds of which will go toward HELP for the direct, immediate and
unobstructed benefit of Cuban children suffering from Leukemia.
``Included in the auction will be some one-of-kind treasures, both old and
new, including artwork from the renowned artist Yanoski Mora of Havana, as well
as Cuban rum, coffee, cigar variety packs and cigar memorabilia,'' Eiselman
said.
Regarding legal issues and Cuban merchandise, Eiselman, a lawyer, said some
of the items for the auction were made available by donors who traveled to Cuba
with full license from the U.S. government who were permitted to introduce these
limited items as part of their travel.
``All the items of Cuban origin were declared upon entry to the U.S. and
passed through U.S. Customs,'' Eiselman said. ``Therefore, these items are
legally in the U.S. and are being donated for this cause and no profit will be
realized in connection with this auction.''
Mace's Pavilions, Fair Oaks, is located east of Howe Avenue in Sacramento.
A donation of $75 for HELP is requested from those attending. Admission
includes gifts and hors d'oeuvres.
All the proceeds will go to benefit children in Cuba suffering from leukemia
who need medicine and whose families need financial assistance.
