HAVANA, September 18 (Vicente Escobal, Lux InfoPress) Medicines warehoused in Cienfuegos by a government agency are spoiling due to inadequate storage conditions.
The government agency in charge of warehousing medicines moved recently to a facility that doesnt have the necessary climatization to ensure the safe storage of the products. Primarily, the cement roof of the facility allows temperatures of upwards of 104° F. (40° C.) to prevail
in the storage areas.
Normally, pharmaceuticals are stored at 68° F. (20° C.). The medicines in question, mostly antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-inflammatories, are chronically in short supply in Cuban pharmacies.
