More Than 10,000 Get Drinking Water Only Once A Week

HAVANA, August 30 (Rev. Pedro Crespo, Grupo Decoro) – Residents of the Sancho district in the city of Santa Clara have complained to the local government that the water and sewer authority only supplies their district with water once every six days.

Often, the authority assigns only two tank trucks of water for the more than 10,000 people living in the district. Residents can be seen waiting in line with every sort of container to store their allotment.

There have been frequent outbreaks of gastroenteritis which experts attribute to people drinking impure water.
