Patients Must Travel 45 Miles For X-Rays

CIENFUEGOS, November 7 (Alina Gonzalo, Cuba-Verdad) - Patients in need of X-ray service at the "Alipio León" hospital in Aguada de Pasajeros must travel 45 miles to the provincial capital of Cienfuegos because the last functioning X-ray machine at the "Alipio León" is now broken.

Lately, the service had only been available on the basis of extreme need, due to the scarcity of supplies, but now the patients have to go to the "Gustavo Aldereguía" hospital in Cienfuegos for the service. Compounding the problem, the region has been experiencing a transportation crisis; passenger service between many cities and towns, Aguada de Pasajeros among them, has been spotty.
