New York, March 23 -- Art commentator Edward Rubin will offer a view of contemporary Cuban art and culture in an illustrated lecture April 10 sponsored by the Cooper Union Adult Education Forum in New York.
Rubin will speak on ``La Vida Loca: the Life of the Artist in Cuba'' at 7 p.m. April 10 in Cooper Union's Wollman Auditorium, 51 Astor Place.
The lecture is free and no reservations are necessary.
Traveling to Cuba last year, Rubin, through in-depth interviews, in-home visits and firsthand observation, experienced a rare glimpse of the lives of artists and workers.
Despite a U.S. embargo, Castro's Cuba, exporting everything from revolution to sports, music and art, has made an international mark disproportionate to its size.
The lecture, aimed at the general public, features thoughts on Cuba's history, speculations on its future and a look at social issues. Slides of contemporary Cuban art works, architecture and scenes from daily life will accompany Rubin's remarks.
