CIEGO DE ÁVILA, March 14 (Juan Carlos González Leyva, Fundación Avileña Pro-Derechos Humanos) - The disease known as blue mold is devastating tobacco plantations in the southern areas of Ciego de Ávila province, in central Cuba.
In spite of multiple efforts to treat the plants, the plague has not been eradicated and continues advancing. Cultivators have had to uproot and burn many of the plants as a last ditch effort to control the disease.
