Clean-Up Of Havana Harbor Planned

HAVANA, June 28 (Néstor E. Baguer, APIC) – The Italian government plans to invest 1.5 million dollars in a cooperative venture with the Cuban government to clean pollution off the waters of the bay of Havana.

For years now the water in the bay has had a terrible stench due mostly to oil pollution. Lately the cruise ships don’t anchor in its inner reaches to protect their passengers.

An Italian journalist visiting the island said that Vicenzo Petrone, director of the Cooperation for Development agency of the Italian Foreign Ministry, signed an agreement with the Cuban government titled "Emerging help program for the clean-up of the Luyanó river and the bay of Havana."
