Phone Company Harasses Dissident?

HAVANA, June 27 (Juan Carlos González Leyva, FAPDH) – Olga Rita Ramírez accuses the Cuban telephone enterprise ETECSA of harassment by denying her telephone service.

Ramírez is the president of the Cuban Association for the Protection of the Environment. Last June 22, after she placed several calls to Cubanet, ETECSA suspended her long distance service.

ETECSA is known for acting in accord with the secret police in many cases against dissidents of the government.

ETECSA is a mixed Cuban-foreign enterprise. It is the only company offering telephone service in Cuba.
