Arrested And Fined For Possession Of Magazines

HAVANA, June 27 (Reinaldo Cosano Alén) – Odalis Zayas Miranda spent a week in jail and paid a 500 peso fine when she was found in possession of two copies of the ecclesiastical magazine "Vitral."

"Vitral" is published in Pinar del Río, Cuba’s westernmost province, by layman Dagoberto Valdés. The magazine has recently been severely criticized by high-ranking members of Cuba’s government.

Zayas had been intercepted on previous occasions to prevent distribution of the magazine.
