HAVANA, June 19 (María del Carmen Carro, UPECI) - Yulisdeisi Díaz Rico was assaulted at the well-travelled corner of L and 23 Streets, in the Vedado district of Havana. Her assailant took her gold chain and told her "This is for being a counter-revolutionary."
Díaz said that even though the area is crowded no one came to her aid. She said that her assault followed her statements to the local press when police in nearby Guanabo beach issued her a warning for consorting with two prostitutes. At that time, police questioned her wearing the gold
chain.
Díaz also said "Whats happened is more than a warning to me personally, because my family are opponents of the Cuban regime. They are members of the Support group, which my grandmother Miriam Cantillo Ramos leads."
