Prisoner Loses Movement In One Arm Due To Medical Malpractice

HAVANA, June 14 (Moraima Pires, Grupo Decoro) – Political prisoner Lázaro Constantín Durán is losing movement in his right arm as a result of a vaccine given him three months ago by physicians in the Valle Grande prison, in Havana.

The information was revealed by his mother, Noris Durán, who said he could barely move his arm during the last time she visited him at the jail on June 8.

"He’s suffering from severe pain," said Mrs. Durán, "because apparently they damaged a nerve in the forearm when they injected him with the vaccine. He has requested medical attention repeatedly, but they have disregarded his request."

Mrs. Durán is alarmed by her son’s state of health, and is asking the administration at Valle Grande to provide the appropriate medical attention and to let her know what really happened in his case.
