LAS TUNAS, June 13 (Fermín Luis Valdés, Agencia Libertad) There is an undercurrent of resentment among Cuban medical students facing what they perceive as much better living conditions for foreigners attending classes with them.
"Foreign students live two to a room; we (Cuban students) have to live 8 to 12 to a room, putting up with serious difficulties in obtaining water and one light bulb as the only source of illumination, which is not enough to study by," said one medical student who opted not to give his
name.
Another student said: "Our food is not enough and badly prepared, but when we protest, all we get is silence."
"When we insist," said a third, "we are told that we should be thankful to the Revolution which gave us a free university education."
