HAVANA, June 5 (María Elena Rodríguez, Cuba-Verdad) The meningitis outbreak first reported around the city of Cienfuegos 15 days ago continues spreading and the government news media have not acknowledged it.
More than 500 residents, mostly children, have been affected to date, but no deaths have been reported so far. The nearby municipality of Aguada de Pasajeros reports more than 50 cases. The child care facility there was closed on June 1 by order of the Provincial Department of Hygiene and
Epidemiology.
