MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2000--The following is a Statement by Jorge Mas Santos, Chairman of the Cuban-American National Foundation in Miami:

"We thank the appellate court for its review of the lower court's opinion and the promptness of its decision.

"As loyal Americans and as part of the Cuban-American community, the Cuban-American National Foundation knows that our community will remain the law-abiding citizens who we have been historically.

"Respecting the law also means that we should use every legal avenue available, and I stress 'legal,' to ensure that Elian's rights in America are protected.

"Finally, we are working with all churches throughout the Miami area in preparation for the court's decision. Churches will open early on Thursday and clergy will be available at all times to offer comfort, prayer and continual messages of peace."
