SANTIAGO DE CUBA, July 25 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) - A maintenance worker was fired after four and a half years on the job on recommendation of the Suitability Committee as not reliable enough, politically.
Ledys Ramírez Allardes, who was fired by Corporación Cubanacán, S. A. in December, 1999, says that he doesnt know what to do since "the job was my familys only source of income. I havent done anything wrong."
What follows is a translation of the document notifying Ramírez he had been terminated.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
By these presents we serve notice that citizen Ledys Ramírez Allardes worked in the "Comp. De Mtto. y obras menores (C.M.O.M.)" [Maintenance and minor chores Company] from the month of March, 1995 to the month of December, 1999; that no more employment in this company can be
offered to the aforementioned because in investigations by the Employment Agency in the city block where he lives information was obtained that the citizen attempted to leave the country illegally in 1994, and that the citizen doesnt participate in the political labors of the Committee for the
Defense of the Revolution [the neighborhood vigilance committees].
For these motives the Committee of Suitability does not authorize us to continue employing the citizen.
