Washington's baseball team will return from a series of games in Cuba in time for boosters traveling with the team to attend a Husky football game against Miami on Sept. 9 at Husky Stadium.
Under a revised schedule announced yesterday by TranSports, the agency that coordinates visits by U.S. athletic teams to Cuba, the baseball team will depart Seattle on Aug. 31 and return Sept. 7.
"This is a great opportunity for the UW baseball team to be the first university team to play in Cuba" in more than 40 years, said Michael W. Keller, TranSports recruiting coordinator.
Games against both Cuban national and college teams are planned, along with a baseball clinic and tours of Havana, a cigar factory, the Sports Academy, the Tropicana nightclub and nearby beaches.
The cost for boosters accompanying the team is $2,300.
