CIEGO DE AVILA, July 18 (Héctor Florentino Espinosa, FAPDH) Townspeople in Ciro Redondo municipality in Ciego de Ávila province cannot buy beer by the bottle because the small quantities that are supplied weekly are grabbed by local Party, government and food industry
officials.
Lately, out of the 10 cases of beer allocated to the area, five went to the president of the municipal Popular Power, Raúl Pérez Carmenate, and the rest ended up with the director of the food industry administration, Rey Rodríguez Vals.
Bottled beer in the province has become a luxury available only to high officials and tourists at 10 pesos (U.S. $0.50) a bottle.
