Mortadella Produces Cases Of Food Poisoning

CIEGO DE AVILA, July 17 (Juan Carlos González, FAPDH) - Slices of mortadella distributed by the government's food rationing program on July 12 caused a number of cases of food poisoning in Vertientes, Camagüey province.

More than 30 residents, including children, were hospitalized with symptoms which included vomiting, diarrhea and fever. Most of those affected were transferred to the provincial hospital Manuel Ascunce Domenech due to the lack of medicines at the municipal hospital.

The mortadella is distributed occasionally under the food rationing program in small portions per person.
