TB Outbreak In Pinar Del Río Treated With Herbal Medicine

HAVANA, July 11 (Regina del Sol) – Doctors in this province are prescribing herbal infusions to combat a TB outbreak because other medicines are only available in the dollar market and out of the reach of townspeople. Thirty-five new cases of TB have been reported in the northern area of the province, around the municipality of La Palma. Most of the victims are very young or very old. One, Ramona González, said: "I don’t feel well and the doctor only told me to take an infusion made with linden flowers."

Medicines are available in pharmacies that only sell in dollars. The people in this mostly poor area are paid in pesos for their labor.
