SAN LUIS, PINAR DEL RIO, July 11 (Raúl Arteaga Delgado, PPDHC) – A captain with the Department of State Security threatened to confiscate a farmer’s land if he continued to help a dissident.

Tacio García some years back allowed dissident Lázaro Burón Martínez to plant rice on part of his land. State Security captain Elizardo Álvarez summoned García to his police unit and threatened to take the land away from him. "If you don’t take the land back from Lázaro Burón, we’ll confiscate it," he said.

García, facing official pressure, agreed to evict Burón.
