SANTIAGO DE CUBA, July 7 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) Local authorities pressed private taxicabs into service to transport people to a rally in neighboring Manzanillo on June 30.
The rally was one of the many organized by the government to protest the U.S. embargo and the special immigration status accorded to Cubans by the INS.
The cab drivers reported that most of the people they transported said they were attending the rally for fear of repercussions at their places of employment.
