Policeman Tries To Arrest Cuban-American Tourist

HAVANA, July 5 (Héctor Maseda, Grupo Decoro) – A policeman in Santa Clara, central Cuba, tried to arrest a Cuban-American tourist, presumably on suspicion of prostitution.

Policeman Emilio Muñoz, out of uniform and without previously identifying himself, grabbed the woman in the city’s central park and dragged her down the street. The woman’s husband punched Muñoz and made him release his wife.

Muñoz charged back and when the couple identified themselves with American passports stopped dead on his tracks. "At that point he started to reason and realized his error (the government considers tourists very important), apologized and quickly left the scene," said Rigoberto Zamora.

Muñoz is notorious in the area for his abusive behaviour. He has been known to stand in Santa Clara’s park yelling "Here, I am the one that imposes the law. I am the law."
