Part Of Spanish Hotel Collapses Before Opening

CIEGO DE AVILA, July 4 (Abdel Morales Agustino, FAPDH) – Five-star hotel "Las Terrazas," slated to open as one of Spanish chain Sol-Meliá’s properties in Cuba, suffered a partial collapse—not its first.

The hotel, being built in Cayo Guillermo, off the coast of Ciego de Ávila province in central Cuba, is being built in a swampy area. Some months ago, the foundation failed, causing extensive damage in a section of the building that primarily consisted of guests’s rooms. This time, the vault over the lobby failed.
