Government Evicts Mother And Son

CIEGO DE AVILA, July 4 (Pedro Luis Díaz Torres, FAPDH) - Isabel Grandal and her three-year-old son have been living in the streets of Morón, in this province, since they were evicted from the house they occupied by the police.

Grandal lived at 101 Bonachea Street for 25 years. Recently the house seemed to be in danger of imminent collapse and, after unsuccessfully trying to get help from the government to repair it, she abandoned it to squat in an empty house the local government was planning to use for offices.

At this juncture, the government did react quickly, and sent the police to evict her.
