Problems With Garbage Pick-Up

HAVANA, July 2 (María de los Angeles González Amaro, UPECI) – The Municipal Services Administration in Arroyo Naranjo banned garbage pick-ups in horse drawn carts, in spite of the mounting piles of refuse in the area.

Dolores Oropesa, president of the Committee No. 10 for the Defense of the Revolution in Gustavo Street, complained to the head of the local branch of the Popular Power (Cuba’s Assembly) who defended the measure.

Oropesa questioned the local leader, asking "What is more dangerous, picking up the trash or having it pile up in the streets?"

There are more than three cubic meters of refuse in Gustavo Street alone that need to be picked up, with more sure to follow.
