Fishing company idled by lack of fuel

PINAR DEL RIO, November 30 (Bertha Peraza, APO) – The "Pesca Río" fishing company has been idle for three months and doesn’t expect to recommence operations for at least three more months, all due to lack of fuel and breakdowns in the refrigeration equipment.

The workers are getting paid half their regular salaries for the duration, but many complain they are having a hard time making ends meet.

The general population has not been affected by the idle fishery since fresh fish has not been sold to the population in a long time.
