Building Watercraft Still A Growth Industry In Cuba

HAVANA, April 3 (Oswaldo de Céspedes, CPI) - State Security and National Police agents searched the home of Oscar B. Larrinaga on March 26 and found a home built craft in which Larrinaga and six others planned to leave the country.

Larrinaga, a resident of Arroyo Naranjo, Havana, was fined 1000 pesos for attempted illegal flight from the island and each of the six was fined 50 pesos.

A source told CPI that confiscations of home-built boats are frequent in this municipality just outside the city. Two of the boats can still be seen outside the 9th Police Station in the Capri neighborhood.
