Mothers Ask For Increase In Milk Ration

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, March 31 (Luis Alberto Rivera, APLO) - Mothers of young children in this eastern Cuban province are asking the government to increase the amount of milk it will sell under the rationing system.

According to the mothers, 250 grams of powdered milk every five days is not enough for a child. In any case, this amount is only alloted to children up to age 7. The mothers say they routinely use more than the recommended amount of water to mix the milk in order to stretch it further. It was not clear whether they realize that by doing so, they only increase the volume, but still end up with 250 grams of milk. They also complain of frequent late deliveries of the milk allotment.
