Workers Concerned About Imminent Layoffs

HAVANA, July 31 (Migdalia Rosado, Tamarindo 34 Derechos Humanos) - Workers at the meat packing plant "Planta Habana," formerly Swift, are concerned for their jobs in the face of persistent rumors that the plant will close either for lack of spare parts or because of worsening sanitary conditions.

Were the plant to close, more than 200 people will lose their jobs. The general population would not be affected, since they don’t have access to the plant’s products.
