Police search home on suspicion of illegal enrichment

HAVANA, Cuba - October 17 (Richard Roselló / www.cubanet.org) - Police in Batabanó searched the home of Héctor Ruiz October 12 for what they said was suspicion of illegal enrichment.

Some 20 agents and investigators searched the home and seized more than 70,000 pesos, 15,000 dollars, 50 convertible pesos, motorcycle parts and 17 liters of gasoline.

According to witnesses, Ruiz, who said he has been working as a mechanic for more than 30 years, was able to substantiate the acquisition of the parts and the gasoline and the money that constituted his savings.
