Man attacked in the street with machete

HAVANA, Cuba – May 18 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad / www.cubanet.org) – A 38-year-old man was attacked and wounded as he walked home after work May 15 in Managua by another wielding a machete.

Alberto Prieto suffered wounds in the neck and the left ear and is still hospitalized in the Julio Trigo hospital.

Prieto said he did not know his assailant or the possible motives he may have had for the attack. A number of bystanders who witnessed the incident

were also not able to identify the assailant.

Prieto said he had been walking home after finishing his shift at the Independiente cafeteria when the man walked up to him and attacked him without saying a word.
