Computers stolen from schools for re-sale

HAVANA, March 15 (Juan Carlos Linares Balmaseda / www.cubanet. org) - Four computers and VHS equipment were stolen from the Abel Santamaría primary school last weekend, presumably for re-sale.

Two guards at the school were being held for questioning.

Only state workers have access to computers and VHSes, so there is a growing market for such equipment in the private sector. Used computers can bring the equivalent of 500 dollars.
