Cuba to provide advise
to Venezuela in aeronautics
El
Universal, Venezuela,
June 14, 2006.
A group of experts from the Cuban Civil
Aeronautic Institute (IACC) is in Venezuela
to advise the National Civil Aeronautic
Institute (INAC), said the latter in a communiqué.
During the meeting, Cuban technicians are
to share their expertise in order to help
complete an airport certification process
under way in Venezuela.
This move is intended to meet recommendations
the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) made during a recent visit to Venezuela,
INAC said, as quoted by official news agency
ABN.
INAC Facilities Certification Division
head Aviation major Cornelio Trujillo said
Venezuela, as a member of ICAO, has to ensure
that international airports meet the relevant
security standards, which is possible through
a certification process. Under such a process,
the aviation authorities issue a certificate
to the airport operator indicating that
the airport has fully complied with operational
safety standards.
He said Cuban expertise in this area would
help both in planning and development of
the Venezuelan certification process.
