Airport officials arrested
HAVANA, Cuba - May 24 (José Antonio
Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad / www.cubanet.org)
- Two high officials at Havana's international
airport were arrested May 12 on charges
of corruption and are being held at State
Security headquarters.
The director and assistant director of
the Airport Security and Protection Company,
Roberto A. Fernández and Liván
Tápanes, are accused of illegally
obtaining 18,000 dollars, a Lada automobile,
90 tires, several mattresses and other articles.
Sources say the president of the Civil
Aeronautics board, Rogelio Acevedo, could
lose his job as a result of the scandal.
