Airport officials arrested

HAVANA, Cuba - May 24 (José Antonio Fornaris, Cuba-Verdad / www.cubanet.org) - Two high officials at Havana's international airport were arrested May 12 on charges of corruption and are being held at State Security headquarters.

The director and assistant director of the Airport Security and Protection Company, Roberto A. Fernández and Liván Tápanes, are accused of illegally obtaining 18,000 dollars, a Lada automobile, 90 tires, several mattresses and other articles.

Sources say the president of the Civil Aeronautics board, Rogelio Acevedo, could lose his job as a result of the scandal.
