Agricultural workers intoxicated by insecticide

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba, September 19 (Luis Miguel González Leyva, Jagua Press / www.cubanet.org) - More than 20 agricultural workers employed by a government seed bank have suffered intoxication and burns from an insecticide.

Yorquis Curbelo, a member of the team that sprays the insecticide, said that the workers came in direct contact with the product, called Final, as they did not have any protective gear.

The workers, at the Javacoa farm, suffered burns to their backs and forearms, as well as eruptions in the genital area.

The seed bank belongs to the Ministry of the Sugar Industry.
