Ailing dissident prisoner returned to a jail cell

HAVANA, October 19 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Ángel Moya Acosta, sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2003, was recently removed from the hospital unit in the Combinado del Este prison and returned to a cell.

Moya's wife, Berta Soler Fernández, said her husband is sleeping in the top of a three-tier bunk, even though it's just been a year since he was operated on for a herniated disk. She said there are a dozen common criminals in his cell.

"These people want Moya to suffer a relapse," she said. "He could be left an invlaid or paralyzed, something I'm not going to permit."

Moya, 41, is president of the Movement for Democratic Liberty in Cuba.
