Independent journalist placed in isolation
cell
HAVANA, Cuba, September 30 (Roberto Rodríguez
Santana / www.cubanet.org) - Imprisoned
independent journalist Fabio
Prieto Llorente has been placed in an
isolation cell where he's suffering from
bronchitis, according to his sister.
Clara Lourdes Prieto received the news
of her brother by telephone from another
imprisoned independent journalist at the
Kilometer 8 prison, Juan Carlos Herrera
Acosta.
"Fabio was looked at after five days
of fever," she said. "They sent
him aerosol daily."
Prieto said that X-rays were ordered for
her brother but that none had been taken.
Prieto Llorente was sent to an isolation
cell August 31 after removing his prison
uniform in protest over the treatment of
fellow prisoner Herrera Acosta.
"What they're doing to my brother
is an abuse and the same as what they doing
to so many political prisoners in Cuba,"
said Prieto.
Prieto Llorente, 43, was sentenced to 20
years imprisonment during the 2003 crackdown
by the government against dissidents.
