Jazz pianist brings taste
of Cuba to Aberdeen

Jazz piano player Nachito Herrera will
bring a taste of Cuba to the Centennial
Homes Summer Jam.
Ignacio "Nachito" Herrera is
considered "one of the greatest Latin
jazz piano players in the world today,"
says a news release. He is the fourth act
to be announced for the Aberdeen outdoor
concert, which runs July 23 at Wylie Park.
Originally from Cuba, Herrera and his family
now call Minneapolis home.
According to the publicity material, "He
plays with energy and intensity and his
music blends the classic Cuban sound with
his own unique jazz style."
He will perform in Aberdeen with his new
Bembe Band. Members of the group include
drummer Rau'l Pineda, lead vocalist and
percussionist Jesu's Diaz and vocalist Mirdalys
Herrera.
Nachito Herrera has toured, performed and
shared the stage with exceptional musicians
including Chick Corea, Michel Camilo, Michael
Tainer, Tito Puentes, Oscar de Leon, Giovanni
Hidalgo, The Yellowjackets and many more.
Herrera has been involved in 15 album projects
in various capacities as a producer, arranger
and featured artist.
The Centennial Homes Summer Jam runs from
noon until 10:30 p.m. It is free to the
public. Food and beverages will be sold.
