Woman foils assault with shoe
HAVANA, Cuba / June 13 (Adrián
Leiva / www.cubanet.org) - An unidentified
woman foiled an assailant's attempt to take
her husband's gold chain by beating the
thief with her shoe.
Bystanders said the thief, a man about
18, tried to snatch the man's chain midmorning
in the busy Calzada del Cerro and Avenida
de Rancho Boyeros intersection. As the two
men struggled, the man's companion went
after the youth with her shoe, beating him
off.
The youth reportedly beat his retreat down
a side street, with no one in pursuit.
