Student scolded for his father's militancy

CIENFUEGOS, Cuba - July 13 (Vicente Pérez Varela, Cubanacán Press / www.cubanet.org) - The 13-year-old son of independent journalist Luis Miguel González Pavón was scolded by teacher Nilda Piñones for the militancy of his father.

When the student, who is in eighth grade at the Juan Olay secondary school, questioned the teacher for remarks about his father, she replied: "Because he's a counterrevolutionary who has tried on various occasions to illegally leave the country and he is a militant in an opposition group."

González Pavón said he doesn't understand the relationship between his political militancy and his son's schooling.

González Pavón is a member of the Liberal party of Cuba and works as a journalist in Cubanacán Press.
