Prisoner mistreated by Cuban medical authorities
SANTA CLARA, Cuba, January 11 (Guillermo
Fariñas Hernández, Cubanacán
Press / www.cubanet.org) - Imprisoned dissident
Pablo Pacheco charged health officials in
Morón, Ciego de Ávila province,
with displaying an uncaring attitude.
Pacheco said he was taken to the hospital
in Morón January 4 for a dislocated
patella, and that the orthopedic doctor
who attended his case, a Dr. Peralta, didn't
even look or speak to him, simply sending
him back to the prison to be examined again.
Pacheco said the transfer from the prison
to the hospital and back was all done on
foot, despite that his chief complaint was
precisely his knee.
Pacheco was sentenced to 20 years in the
Spring of 2003.
