CUBA 39% of violence directed at women in Cuba, study shows HAVANA,
Cuba, February 18 (Aleaga Pesant, UPECI / www.cubanet.org) - "In 2002, 39%
of all cases of violence were directed at women," reported an article in
Alma Mater of January 2005. According to the article, titled "Violence,
another crack on the wall," the main causes are alcoholism, personal and
social frustrations, and dependency based on age or economic potential. Dr.
Clotilde Proveyer, a sociology professor at the University of Havana, said researchers
simulated situations in a classroom using puppets and asked the students to draw
their impressions. The results, she said, showed that most students were victims
of mistreatment at home. Versión
