FROM CUBA
New TV channel

HAVANA, Cuba, September 7 (Ariel Delgado, UPECI / www.cubanet.org) - A fifth TV channel to broadcast to the whole island is possible by the end of this year or the beginning of the next, said a specialist who asked to remain anonymous.

The new channel, which would make a fifth national channel, would actually be an extension of the present provincial channels.

New studios have been set up for the operation in the building that used to house the Channel 4 studios more than 40 years ago.

Programming is expected to emphasize "social guidance" that will "contribute to raise the political level of our people."
