Cuba invites Indian investment
India
News, November
28, 2004.
Kochi, Nov 27 Cuba today urged Indian companies
to explore the growing potential available
in that country especially in the areas
of food, biotechnology and tourism.
Interacting with industrialists here, Cuban
ambassador in India Juan F Carretero Ibanez
said his country had already accomodated
375 foreign companies and wanted to have
greater trade relations with India. Coffee,
spices, biotechnology, health and tourism
could be the avenues of more cooperation,
he suggested.
The Cuban tourism industry was growing
fast with about two million tourists visiting
the country last year, he said.
After the disintegration of the Soviet
Union, which was its most important trade
partner, the Latin American country had
to reorganise itself in a challenging way
by opening itself to other parts of the
world, he added.
Though it promoted socialism, the country
would offer all assistance to foreign companies
as it had vast human resources potential
in all fields, he said.
