Police threaten independent journalist

HAVANA, Cuba, November 17 (Roberto Santana Rodríguez / www.cubanet.org) - Independent journalist Richard Roselló was arrested November 13 and taken to the Picota police station in Old Havana, where two agents of the Department of State Security threatened him under the provisions of the "Gag" law.

Roselló said police took his identification when they arrested him Saturday morning as he left home. After a wait at the police station, Roselló said agent Moisés and another agent whose name he doesn't know told him that is exit visa has been withheld and he won't be able to leave the country. "We are preparing a case on you based on Law 88, the "Gag" law, and you might face 25 years in prison," Roselló said they told him.

Roselló has been an independent journalist for some years now, reporting on Cuban reality for CubaNet and other publications.
