Dollar stores closed "until further notice" in Ciego de Ávila

MORON, Cuba, May 11 (José Manuel Caraballo, APLA / www.cubanet.org) - The sign on the door of the TRD store in Morón was very clear. The other dollar stores in the city also did not open at nine, their accustomed time.

Reports came in from all municipalities in Ciego de Ávila province: thousands of people milled about in front of the stores intending to buy soap and other personal hygiene products. Any other products had been withdrawn from the shelves.

Police in twos could be seen posted along Martí Street in Morón. Reports were much the same in the other municipalities. At 11 a.m., the stores still had not been authorized to open their doors.
