Dissidents prevented from boarding bus to Havana

HAVANA, June 10 (Moisés Leonardo Rodríguez, Grupo Decoro / www.cubanet.org) - Two dissidents on their way to the bus station were arrested Tuesday in Holguín, eastern Cuba, and released a half hour after their bus left.

Dissidents Eliecer Consuegra and Roberto Pardiñas were riding to the station on a pedicab when ten officers on two police cars intercepted them and took them to two different police stations.

Police confiscated some documents related to dissident organizations the two were carrying, and eight pounds of fish from Consuegra and a jar of oysters from Pardiñas, and fined each of them 1,000 pesos. Both Consuegra and Pardiñas said the fish and oysters were meant as gifts for relatives in Havana.

Police released them at seven-thirty, after the seven o'clock bus they had tickets for had left.
