Catholic bishops reject economic measures in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, June 2 (Miguel Saludes / www.cubanet.org) - The Cuban Conference of Catholic bishops released a letter May 26 expressing concern about the latest economic measures affecting the relations between Cuba and the United States announced by the American and Cuban governments recently.

The letter points out the measures most severely affect the common people and proposes instead dialogue and reconciliation between the parties. The letter was not read at the Sunday Masses; instead it is being quietly distributed among the Catholic congregations.
